unit would be supplied with a flag from a Army of Northern
Virginia supply depot.
I do not doubt that "a flag" was captured by the 66th Indiana.
I'm just not convinced that a 3rd bunting ANV flag would fit in
this scenario.
How and when this particular capture info became associated
with this particular flag is a question that has not yet been answered.
I suspect that long after 1864 the flag and the story became entwined.
I also do not give much credence to the story that an officer associated
with the ANV brought it from Richmond and then bestowed it upon a
A. of T. regiment.
