Re: 30th Va flag at Antietam/Sharpsburg

The letter was written by Virginia Soutter Knox to Robert Taylor Knox & James Soutter Knox. Dated "Richmond. VA (Below) Oct 10th, 1862.

"I heard that Robert had borne off the colors of the regiment." (Page 93).

That is strange because the letter states "Maynard Davenport" Rank?? That he was the color bearer. It states that he had "The flag during his imprisonment." (Page 94) (This was the last paragraph).

Just a thought here, maybe the 30th VA Inf carried two flags?? One was saved and the other went with Maynard Davenport?
