Re: 1st Confederate Battalion Flag/26th Mississipp

Michael,

With regards to the 26th Mississippi, they too were coming from Mississippi and, like the 1st Confederate Battalion, not from the Army of Tennessee in March 1864 which was based at Dalton, GA. Thus, they were part of Leonidas Polk's Department of Alabama, Mississippi & East Louisiana and could have also received a 12 star Mobile Depot flag before leaving for Virginia. However, since an existing Richmond Depot 4th Bunting flag from them exists today this is either doubtful or their Mobile Depot flag was replaced when the 4th Bunting flags were issued in May 1864.
