7th Texas Infantry Flag

A couple years ago I remember hearing that a flag belonging to the 7th Texas Infantry in a private collection was temporarily on display at the Carter House at Franklin. I never had the chance to see it in person but have found a few pictures online.

So I'm wondering what the story is on this flag.

I thought it was interesting that it was a Confederate Battle Flag rather than a Hardee flag. It was mentioned in a previous post here that it is identical to a flag of the 50th Tennessee, so I assume it was issued to the regiment while part of Gregg's Brigade, prior to joining Cleburne's Division? Did the 7th Texas continue to use it on throughout the war or were they ever issued a Hardee flag?

Also, is it known how the flag was originally found? Was it ever captured and taken North or was it in the possession of a Confederate veteran after the war?
