Re: 7th Tennessee Gettysburg flag found in a barn

Jim,

It was indeed. The flag came through the family of the 7th's first colonel, Robert Hatton. After being rescued from Gettysburg, the flag at some point was sent back to Lebanon, TN to Mrs. Hatton. She much later on gave it to her daughter (who was 3 when Hatton was killed in VA) who married a missionary. They spent a lot of time in Japan in the early 20th Century. She died in the early 1930s and the husband died in 1946. He MAY have been in japan during World War 2. The flag came out of a metal tube with the husband's name on it.
