Re: 9th Texas Cavalry Flag

The 3rd Arkansas Cavalry Regiment seemingly was attached to the 9th Texas Cavalry.

Is it of record when this occurred, and is there a record of engagemens which involved the 3rd Ark?

My interest lies with activities of Capt O C GRAY (1st Chair of Civil Engineering at University of Arkansas, July 1874), who commanded Company A of 3rd Ark after Capt Wm T M Holmes was killed at Hatchee Bridge Oct 5th, 1862. GRAY was appointed divisional Provost Marshall Dec 1863, then tendered his 2nd letter of resignation, July 17, 1864, from Sandtown, GA (approved by Col Wm Harrison, & all others) to join Confederate Navy. Acceptence made 19 August 1864, just days before Gen Hood left Atlanta to Gen Sherman. GRAY was captured at Choctaw Bend, MS, less than two weeks before the blood letting at Franklin, TN.
