Eric, I respect you have done alot of research on the battle of Franklin. I'm not trying to take that away from you at all. I was talking about the main attack at 3pm.
Your first post to me was a little disrespectful, so I treat others as they treat me. I live in Washington Dc about 4 blocks from the Library of Congress and about a 15 min walk from the national archives. I can get to the bottom of anything civil war. I take it your from the Franklin, Tenn area. I am not even interested in the battle of Franklin, nashville or any of the AOT battles to be honest. I put more time into Lee's army. A half hour/hour drive I can go to Gettysburg, Sharpsburg, Harper's Ferry, Fredericksburg, Chancellorsville, Wilderness, Spotsyvania, both 1st/2nd Manassas, etc.
You are right, there is so little written about Johnson's div and Cheatham's corps attack at dusk/7pm. Every book I open on the battle of Franklin just shows the main attack at 3pm. So on a good note I am happy you have opened some light on Johnson's attack. I will buy your book, cause like I said before, there is not much on it. I could spend weeks at the Library of Congress on that topic.
By the way, what is the name of your book?
I do apologize to you, Gregg and everyone else on here. I joined this great site, to talk about captured flags not argue with fellow civil war researchers. We are the few and proud!
Ps. I know of some Confederate flags that were captured (I have read that 43 were captured) will you list any Confederate/Union flags that were captured at Franklin?
Thank you,
Shawn
