Very interesting Chris, you know alot more on this subject then I do. I just try to figure out what regiment captured another regiment's flag. I dont have the time to get into the good details you provided.

If you are ever in Richmond, go to the Museum of the Confederacy (just to the left of the Confederate white house) on Clay street. "Colours Of The Grey". They list flags donated, flags from the US. War Department and the Commonwealth of Virginia 1905. They have 510 war time flags in their collection. They have a total of 650 flags.
