Re: 63rd Va. &Hardee Pattern Flag

Ken,

I have heard from Jeff Weaver. According to Jeff, who wrote the history of Grayson County, Virginia, the flag of the 63rd Virginia was lost in a flood in Sugar Grove, Virginia in Grayson County. The flood was in 1916 not 1910 as I had originally stated. My bad. Jeff discovered this while researching his book 63rd Virginia Infantry. He says he cross referenced when he was writing the History of Grayson County. Jeff says he has found no evidence of the 63rd having a Hardee Flag. I trust Jeff as a source so I guess my question is answered. He says the flag lost was a Joe Johnston style of the ANV pattern with 63 in the top field and VA in the lower field. Thanks for your input on this.
