The article about the Crescent Blues' flag appeared in the March 22, 1862 Daily Times (Leavenworth, KS). The article said the flag had gold letters on blue silk: "Crescent Blues, Company A." Company A (Bartlett's or Knight's) was not at 1st Manassas. Company B (McGavock Goodwyn's) Crescent Blues was at 1st Manassas as part of Schaeffer's Battalion attached to Cocke's Brigade. The other two companies in the battalion were Schaeffer's Beauregard Rifles and Macoin's First Louisiana Company. I have a file drawer of info on Company B. The Ranger at Manassas Battleground has recently pinpointed the Blues' position on Bull Run with the help of a contemporary drawing by Leon Fremaux and a topo map.
