As you know from the old post I had seen that the 56th Pa had lost their flag in the Ospery collection.

Today while touring the 1st Manassas battlefield, I stopped in the book store.

"The Mississippi Brigade of BG. Joseph R. Davis"

On page 90, clearing states: "The loss of the 2nd MS's colors was humiliating yet somewhat compensated for by the capture of a flag belonging to the 56th Pennsylvania regiment of Cutler's Brigade."

The 2nd MS captured the flag, the name of the man was: Pvt. Henry McPherson. He was offered a promotion to 1st Lt, by Col Stone but he declined and asked for furlough.
