With all due respect, and this is off topic, but the aspersions about Hood are way off base. There is not a shred of evidence that Hood was taking any medication and likewise there is none that he was in the "constant" pain so many claim he was. Contemporary evidence in fact indicates that Hood has recovered remarkably well from his injuries.

The attack at Franklin was not ordered because Hood was "stoned" or because he was in a fit of rage. Poppycock. He believed, right or wrong, that Franklin was his last chance to crush Schofield before he got away.

But even R. E. Lee is not averse to this revisionism. Nowadays many people can't believe he ordered Pickett's Charge with a clear mind so they come up with ideas like he was violently ill or had a mild heart attack.
