Tilted Stars on Flags...sign of...

…secession?

Ok, I know we see a lot of “tilted” stars on Confederate Flags…especially Texas Lone-Star Flags.

I have “heard” this is to show a state of Rebellion, or Secession for whom the flag represents. I have seen this done on the 7th Texas “Texas Volunteer Sharpshooters” Flag in the Texas Civil War Museum here in Ft. Worth, TX. http://www.txudc.org/museum.htm

Also seen in Hoods Texas Brigade Flags in the Texas Archives. http://www.tsl.state.tx.us/treasures/images/flags/seven-pines.jpg

Now, does anyone have good documentation on why they did come up with the tilted star?
Respectfully:
