Very interesting, new story to me. I would think they would not have used a flag to move a man. It is possible, I am not a flag expert, I leave that to these gentleman on this wonderful site. As for the Pennsylvaia flag in question that was captured, that flag belonged to the 62nd Pa. That flag was not captured by Semmes's brigade, but by Wofford's brigade. Wofford's brigade picked up 4 flags. 11th US.Regulars (wheatfield), 62nd Pa (wheatfield), 4th Michigan (wheatfield) and the 3rd Maine. Wofford's brigade pretty much went in last and was fresh. I believe there were more Union flags captured but "those people" dont want to talk about it.
