I never saw a number next to any of the flags (WD). As for the numbers I dont know. (2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7). The 5th Maine took 4 flags, two are from the 54th nc and 6th nc. Only 4 flags are not known on the 1-8 list. The 121st ny took 2 flags, never found anything on that. I want to find their regimental history book. Might as well get the 5th and 6th Maine and the 121st ny. Just maybe that might help.

I read the 6th Maine too the hardest beating.

The 6th Maine was the skirmishers so they were out in front. The 6th Maine took on Hay's Brigade in hand-to-hand combat. (makes sence since the 8th La lost their flag to the 6th Maine)
The 5th Wisconsin hit also but nothing on flags they captured.
Upton's brigade took on Godwin's nc brigade.

I find something new, I will let you know.
