The 8th LA was in Hay's Brigade of Early's Division thus any replacement flags issued after Gettybsurg would not have had the painted honors from the Richmond Depot on them. However, someone inscribed on the stars of the 8th LA's flag the names of the battles they were in and that was mentioned in a period Philadelphia newspaper reports after Rappahannock Station where the 8th Louisiana again lost a flag.
