George Pforr, Jr, Private, b. Baltimore, Md 15 Jan 1844. Baker, Staunton, 1860 census. Deserted, and enlisted in Co. K, 1st N. Y. (Lincoln) Cavalry in Feb 1864 under the alias "Charles W. Anderson." 5'7", grey eyes, black hair. Captured a Confederate battle flag at Waynesboro 2 Mar 1865. Awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor. Discharged 27 June 1865. Worked in Baltimore. Reenlisted in Co. M, 3rd U.S. Cavalry on 11 Jan 1866 and served on the western frontier. Discharged 4 Apr 1878. Farmer, Augusta county, died in Basic City on 25 Feb 1916 and is buried in Thomrose cemetery. Brother of Bernard Pforr of the Staunton Artillery.
