Re: how to make an infantry flag?

Nacny,

Ok - now this all makes sens.

The flag depicted for the 23rd Tennessee was not issued to them until sometime between June and September, 1864. We call this an ANV Fourth Bunting issue. It replaces the Hardee pattern battle flag lost by the combined 17th/23rd Tennessee at Petersburg.

The picture on the website is partly incorrect - the borders were white. The flag is an overall 5o by 47 inches square and the stars ar 5 inches across the points set every 8 inches (measured from the middle of each star to the middle of the next star)and the blue cross is 6 3/4 inches wide. These flags were made by extensive use of flat-fell seams.
