----I am not related to the Haas, but I reside in Opelousas, and historical genealogy is a hobby of mine. I have done considerable research into the descendants of Captain Samuel Haas. He[Captain Samuel Haas] is the son of Samuel and Harriet Haas, who are natives of France. ------------In 1861 he was married to Miss Martha A. Cole, a native of Louisiana, born in 1845. She is a daughter of John and Lavinia (Hudson) Cole. Mrs. Haas father was a native of Kentucky, and her mother of Louisiana.
