The Civil War Flags Message Board

Re: CSA flags returned by the War Department

There is an excellant little book out, that has a complete reprint of the War Departments roster of captured Battle Flags.

Yes, There are some original mistakes in the identification of these flags but this book only provides the data furnised bt the War Dept and the Ordnance Dept.
The book is inexpensive ( 22.00) and provides a good starting point for more serious research. It includes all the woodcuts of the old and rare "Cotton Belt Poute Commerative of 1905"
"THE RETUENED BATTLE FLAGS" Richard Rollins _ Rank and File Publications. 1985. 1926 South Pacific Coast Highway Suite 228, Redondo Beach, Ca 90277
ISBN 0-9638993-4-1
