Thank you Keith! I have just books, magazines and the Internet to use here at my house. Only on Saturday's can I do research at the LOC. Somewhere in the LOC has what we are all looking for.

I am very picky on buy Civil War books, I dont pick a book up for the cover or the battle. I skim through it for any signs of captured flags.

A little bit about the 5th New Hampshire, this was an outstanding regiment, but after Gettysburg the regiment recruited the last 5 months of 1863. They picked up nearly 600 men, but many were Canadians and New York men just there for the bounty money. By the time of Petersburg, the 5th New Hampshire had many deserters.

I will report, what else I have found in the book on flags captured by the 5th New Hampshire in their history.
