Recovered Union Flags

This may or may not be new to everyone, but while doing research on Isaac Earl (4th Wisc Cav) and his "Special Scouts" ("Canby's Scouts", "Earl's Scouts"), I came across a tri-monthly report of Earl's for late October/ early November 1864, sorry I have re-organize my files. The report states among other things, that the following Union flags captured during the Red River Campaign, were recovered by Earl.

1) one battleflag of the 160th NYVI (type not specified)
2) " " " " 23rd Conn. VI " " "
3&4)two " " " 167th NYVI(types not specified)
5)one battleflag of the 3rd Mass. VC(Type not specified)*
6&7)two battleflags of the 43rd Ind.VI
8-10) three unidentified battleflags
11-12) two unidentified Cavalry Guidons

#1-5 where from Seridan's command

Amongst the recovered flags was also the garrisson falg of Brashear City (I'm guessing this was some type of Confederate Flag)
