Shawn,
I am not sure that my last post went through, so in case it did not, Thank YOu for a great link. I can see the building at Camp Lincoln where the flags are stored from my desk in the winter when the leaves are off the trees.
I have visited there in the past but never looked at the 30th's flag. On my list now. They are available to the public by appointment. The flags are in the process of restoration at this time. Have been for several years now. They are stored in cases in a climate controlled building on the guard base. It is the hope to display them in a more public place in the future when the restoration is done. They were stored in the old Illinois State Arsenal and were almost destroyed by fire in the 30's when the building burned. Fortunatly they were moved out of the building just a few months before the fire to be displayed in the State House. After that they were displayed in the Hall of FLags just south of the State house being hung from flag poles. That was very hard on them since they are mostly silk.
Once again,
Thank you
Frank
