Since the 37th state was admitted to the Union in 1867 it must be assumed that any 37 star flag dates from that era or later UNLESS the flag began with fewer than 37 stars and the 37th was added in 1867, the 36th star was added in 1864/5, the 35th star was added in 1863, the 34th star was added in 1861, etc.,etc.
