This is very interesting. This is what I know. Evans' is the only official report from his semi-brigade that mentions Wheat's Battalion capturing a stand of colors. Wheat's report (reprinted in Broadfoot's expanded edition of the O.R's) makes no mention. Similarly, no other correspondence from other members of the Battalion that I have found make any mention. The only mention of an exploit was by Captain R. G. Atkins (what Atkins termed "slight services on the field") - the capturing of three guns and three officers sometime in the afternoon.
