I hadn't heard of Wheat's men capturing two guns from Sherman's Battery. Have you got a source for this? Did the Confederate War Department keep records of captured Union colours? Would be great to find that. Regarding the colours handed over to N. G. Evans and mentioned by him in his report - I wonder whether the capturing involved wrenching them from some person's hands - or just picking them up off the ground (like Sam Watkins described in "Co Aytch")?
