I know that the Platts were makers of flags for military use as well. The reason that I suggested this advertisement was for civilian flags was due to the statement in the article that says "Fine specimens of his handiwork are gaily waving in different parts of the city..." I don't think that many of the flags made for military purposes would be hanging around the city very long with units being deployed to the various fronts.

While I am sure that contracts for military unit flags were a good portion of their business, it makes sense that the civilian population, such as the fire station and other facilities that are mentioned in previous articles I have posted as flying flags made by Platt would also be a substantial part of his income.
