Your analysis is possible, but from my viewpoint, the bulk of Lane's brigade to the left could not fit into the small space (no more than 300 feet) between the center of the 11th New Jersey and the fence running just north of the Bryan barn, this latter fence then being occupied by the 1st Mass sharpshooters and other Union troops. Plus under that scenario Lane's left regiments would have pushed into Davis' brigade's remnants at that same location, and I don't recall that Davis' men mentioned this support. However, under the previous interpretation the 37th's colors would have moved into the area somewhere opposite the right of the 1st Delaware and the left of the 12th New Jersey. Regards, Tom
