Hi Bill,

Offhand, they did get one of the Mobile Depot battle flags when "Red" Jackson's Division got them in October, 1863. These flags are rectangular, lack color borders and have only 12 stars.

Western CS cavalry used mostly First National flags for much of the war until the Mobile and Augusta Depot flags started showign up in late 1863/early 1864 respectively. Some of Forrest's units had homemade Second Nationals and his command did not get their Mobile Depot flags until July, 1864 after Tupelo.

I would have to dig into my files for the Whitfield LEgion flag for you.
