Mobile 2nd National Regt. flags

I am working on research in order to quote a price on a reproduction of one of the 2nd National flags with the added regimental designation and honors. At this point I have conflicting information as to the material(s) used. In the 1976 Madaus/Needham book they are said to have been made of red, white and blue bunting (I assume wool) with red cotton lettering and silk stars and fimbration. At confederateflags.org Madaus' section on these flags he says they were "made of cotton." A scan of a page I received of unknown source only mentions the lettering and specifies "red cotton bunting." The images of 2 of these flags as shown in "Echoes of Glory" seem to support the silk for the stars etc. but it's hard to make out what the other parts are made of. I'm inclined to consider Madaus' later information as more reliable and use cotton bunting. Your informed opinions and guidance would be appreciated.
