Hello Jeff,

The Western & Southern Armies had a basic standard on flag making but the depot’s were not as consistent in those standards as the Northern Army, as was the flags from the Richmond Depot or Charleston Depot. The farther you got from Richmond, time and money, flag patterns, material changed.

The 2nd National of the 32nd pictured on page 273 of Echoes was made and presented by the Ladies of Mobile, it is not a Mobile Depot issued flag like that Howard is referring to on our web site. If I’m reading you right you are confusing 3 deferent flags and applying one standard.
