Re: Flags o f9th MS Cavalry & 3rd Btn.MS State Tro

Greg,

Thank you so much for your answer to my inquire about the flags .

I felt that the flags did exist, but being a novice at historical research, I have to depend on all of the wonderful people like yourself for information.

I have found many, many flags on eBay - the prices are shocking, to say the least. I strongly believe that they should be made available to the public.

I have also found that many flags were deliberately destroyed by our forces after a surrender rather have them fall into enemy hands. Perhaps that was the fate of the flags of the 3rd Battn. & the 9th Cacvalry. At least my ancestors , except one, made it thru the war, and returned safely to their home.

Again, thank you so much for your help. I guess that I need to move to MS. , so that I can go the MS. State Archives . and search their holdings , as I have to do my research by mail( I have uncovered LOTS of information that way!)

P;ease excuse the too long message- the Greens are notorious for their talkativeness!

Again , Thanks ever so! Mary Jo
