Folks,

We are again saddened by the loss of another great flag scholar Devereaux Cannon. But much more than that he was simply one of the nicest guys that I have ever had the privilege to get to know and he was certainly a mentor to me long ago as I began the road to Civil War flags.

Devereaux and I plus Bob Bradley were planning the definitive book on the CS First National flag and if Bob is game this will still happen so far as I am concerned as a tribute to Devereaux.

I just spoke to Devereaux last Thursday and he was recovering from a fall from his horse of earlier in the week that fractured his arm. The family suspects that the embolism that killed him came from that fall.

Lastly, once the funeral is over and things calm down somewhat I will be getting the keys to the Flags of the Confederacy website and it will keep going and we will post a nice tribute to Devereaux on it for the flag historians to come.
