No, I don't know how old the flag is, I have no expertise in this sort of thing. Except for one of the blue stars, which needs mending, the flag's in great shape. I think it has been well taken care of by my grandmother, c1932 or a few years later. She gave it to me in the mid-1980s, and I've kept it in the box and dry.

One response I got said that he thought the silhouette was a "Minuteman," and the U.S. shield he was holding was not real old, but not sure what that means.

Yes, this could even be some sort of National Guard Flag. I know my GGGG Grandfather was a Civit War Vet, and a live wire after the war, as I have learned. I'm also sure my Grandmother thought it was a Civil War flag. After the war he lived in Illiopolis, Sangamon County, Illinois until his death in 1932.
