Hello Greg,
The flag picture you sent me, I believe was issued by the U.S. Treasury Department during WWII as a award to business with a high percentage of participation in war bond sales. What is unusual about the flag is the Great Seal of The United States (Seal of the President of the United States) on the flag. ( The seal is fairly modern, look on the back of a one dollar bill). This is one of several flag patterns issued by the US Treasury Department as awards.
The Minuteman (Logo) is patterned after H.H. Kitson statue, symbolizes a volunteer citizen militia available, on a moment’s notice. The Minuteman logo is also associated with may of the State Guard Troops and the US Army National Guard.
You have a rare flag, it dates about 1944 but you can check with a textile expert for a better date. The archives at the Treasury Department in Washington, DC may have more information on the flag and a explanation on the seal.
Thanks for sending the picture. If there is a logo on the header I’d like to see a picture of it, it may help ID the flag or maker.
Happy Trails!
Tom Martin
