I have lots of evidence that the flag for the 7th (not 12th) Tennessee Cavalry by the ladies of Aberdeen was a silk Second National and that the flag was, indeed, torn up rather than surrendered.

This will be part of the chapter on this flag in my book on Tennessee Civil War flags for the TN State Museum.
