This is an interesting question, can anyone help me with trying to find out State Emblems/Seals that would have been in use during the Civil War ? The Virginia "Sic Semper Tyranus" Emblem is still in use today. But, is the New York State Emblem the same as in 1860 ? How about the other States in the Union, Pa. seems to be Civil war era based, but how about Michigan, Maine, Ohio etc. Also the Confederate States, the Pelican for Louisiana, but what about Mississippi or Kentucky ?
Any help would be very much appreciated.
