You are right about the remark concerning the 12th Corp. I had not considered that. But before i went there I would want to verify there is any validity to the statement dispite the fact it is written in the Units Regimental history.
The reason why I state this,as mentioned, I have studied this regiment for years and this is the first mention I have ever read. I have read the Regimentaal a number of times and overlooked the statement. Shame on me....
Also I have a collection(copies) of over 600 123d letters home. I have just completed making a seperate fileof 28 individual letters describing the Chancellorsville battle.
Never once in the 28 or 600 letters is it mentioned that they lost their flag. It seems imposiable that by coverup or shame wouldthis fact remain unmentioned.
Post war, two flage were returned to the state however either could be replacements. Today I will check the Col. remarke at the presentation to the state.

My intent with posting here is to confirm one way or the
other the validity of the claim
