Re: Captured Union flag from BG.Hays--Gettysburg

Excellent, I found that book on the "Google Books" that General Hay's widow turned in a flag back in 1890. Now even a 5 year old kid could point out an "American Flag". But nobody wrote that the flag that Mrs. Hay's turned in as being "The Stars and Stripes". "Regimental or a Company Flag", as it was written down.

Now we know 75th Ohio lost their National flag. With this new source I think it might be the 75th Ohio's regimental flag. I would not think a company flag would be considered a "Battle Flag". By the slim chance it was, I believe this is another flag captured by Hay's men. Either way, regimental or company flag, this looks to be 1 of the 4 flags captured. The 75th Ohio's National flag captured would be 2 of 4. The last two.....??

Well I will keep you updated at what I find either on the Google Books or the LOC/NA. I don't have much time left till I go back over to Afghanistan.

Well, thank you for the help!

Have a good night,

Shawn
