Re: 1st Mississippi Light Artillery Flag

Not long before Hurricane Katrina hit, the Old Capitol Museum in Jackson, Mississippi conserved and added to its permanent exhibits an ANV--I think infantry size--identified as belonging to the 1st Miss. Light Artillery. Due to damage to the building occasioned by Katrina the museum, sadly, has been closed since then, but it is undergoing renovation and should reopen in a year or so. The flag was on the top floor, which is where the worst damage was, but no report I read mentioned any flags suffering damage. For a couple of years my summer job was with the living history program at Vicksburg NMP; the unit we portrayed was Battery A of the First Mississipi, since the area where we were, by the visitor's center, was similar to the position where that battery was stationed guarding a road during the seige. I believe the actual battery had Parrott rifles in 1863, whereas we used a Napoleon, though.
