On the National Soldier/Sailor website they have "1-205" Prouty's. But a few are the same person. Out of the "205", 178 I have found to be not double counted etc. But oddly, on the Adjutant State Books at the LOC, I have found even more Prouty's (23 more). Maybe that is why they keep "updating" their database. I liked the Adjutant State Records, had their names, when they signed on, what happened to them, etc.
Here is the National Archives Soldier/Sailor site to see if you or anyone else had family in the war.
Have a good morning!
