Your mention of your association with the Save the Ohio Flags Committee prompts a question. A number of years ago I obtained photocopies from the OHS of all the photos of the flags in their collection (Now of course, all the images can simply be downloaded, what a boon to any researcher) Many of the Ohio regimental flags can be identified as coming from one depot/manufacturer or another, but in the Ohio collection there is one particular pattern of regimental flag that I cannot identify.
This flag has the United States eagle on both sides. The somewhat stylized eagle is, for lack of a better term, very thin, with both of its wings pointed upwards. Between the upstretched wings is a cloud which often bears a motto of some type. Below the eagle the unit designation is presented in an open or outlined banner. As far as I can tell most of these flags were painted, but some are described elsewhere as being embroidered.
In your research did you come ever across who made these flags. I suspect they came from somewhere in Ohio and might well have been supplied through the state as opposed to the Federal QM Dept, since I have only found a few non-Ohio units with such a colour.
I hope I'm not asking too much here, but any help you might be able to provide will be greatly appreciated.
