Hello,

The flag that was hoisted voer the Augusta Arsenal in January, 1861 was white with a red star. It is held by the Augusta-Richmond County Museum in Augusta and on display there.

I call these flags "lone star flags" as what ties them together was their single star motif. Not all were blue with white stars - I have detailed files on several color combinations that were actually used and, in addition, these lone stars were also used in combination with other devices, like the crescent and palmetto tree of South Carolina.

At some point in my life I will do a book on the many secession era flags of the Confederacy.
