I thought it might help to explain further: We are researching a flag for the 7th Va Infantry- the flag they carried trough the 7 days had "Seven Pines" and "Williamsburg" on it. The honors were on white cloth strips with black block letters, authorized by Gen Longstreet. I know this because the flag of the 17th Va Infantry, also of Kemper's brigade, was captured at Frazier's Farm and is as described. According to the regimental history, the flag of the 7th Va was cheered " Hurray for Seven Pines" while passing through Frederick, Md, on the way to South Mtn and Sharpsburg. Apparently the cloth strips were still on the flag at this tme.I wonder, however, if the two cloth honors given by Longstreet were removed and painted honors substituted, along with honors for 1st and 2nd Manassas, Blackburn's Ford, Frazier's Farm, South Mountain,Sharpsburg, and Fredicksburg, before the flag issue in May of 1863 before Gettysburg. Thus my request for a photo or a location to contact concerning a flag of this period in Pickett's Division. Again, thanks for any help-Barrett
