I have a Stars and Bars flag with only 12 stars set in a random pattern. It measures 40" x 84" with 1" of fringe around three sides. Other S&B flags I have seen have a definate pattern to the way the stars are laid out. Some have more stars and some have less than 12. My ggf was General Steven Burbridge who defeated General John Morgan's raiders in June, 1864. I have my ggf's commission to major general sign by President Lincoln as a promotion for this successful campaign and the flag was with the commission. Could it have belonged to Morgan? Any ideas what this flag might be???
