Re: 1st and 3rd Florida Battlefalg

Dear Gregg

Thanks so much for the information......I had a gut feeling that it was a ceremonial flag but unfotunately when I received an e-mail from the MOC curator's office that it would not be inaccurate to depiict it at Shy's Hill, I decided to include it in my illustration. I guess I was too hasty to include it since it is an unusual flag. I don't know if I can correct the image so I will include a caveat in the print to go with the picture. I have used the 6th Regt Fla. Vol. in the drawing and will probably use the 7th as well.

Thanks to others on this site, I was able to view the 4th Fl. Vol Inf. flag (the one supposedly captured) and the 1st Fl. Cav & 4th Inf.(consolidated) that was captured at Murfreesboro. I can't make out whether the souhtern cross had stars and can't make out on the field whether the wording (undecipherable) is a unit designation or capture designation since I assume the "Murfreesboro" at the top of the field is a capture designation. Do you have any information on the flag. Thanks again.
