Fully agree, Greg, with provenance. The mergers and general disintegration of AoT and SC,Ga,FL units as troops from SC moved into NC make the possibility of an AoT flag ending up in NC not unreasonable to me, but no association with Fisher, which had fallen in Jan '65. I would note that the officer in charge of former AoT signal men who certified their surrender at Greensboro misunderstood the requirement and submitted a listing not of all surrendered but all who were on record as having served. He then had to submit a revised list of the remnant actually accepting parole. So I don't rule out sentiment/souvenir items showing up under exceptional circumstances; but the Fort Fisher association suggests something garbled in the oral tradition. (Even if former AoT Chief Signal Officer had been transferred to Wilmington in '64.)
