I think it's the correct battle, "... jumping into Cedar Creek, ..." and I cannot find a reference to a Ceder Creek near Sharpsburg, I looked at a few maps.

The next step would be finding the position of the 7th Maine Battery and the 2nd North Carolina Infantry at Cedar Creek. If they are opposite of each other, the likelihood of it being the Battery's flag increases.
