By "battleflag" pattern are you referring to a typical Trans-Mississippi pattern of St. Andrews cross with no fimbration, possibly reversed colors (Taylor style)similar to the 2nd LA Cav. illustrated on the FOTC website? Sorry to be such a pain with the questions, but I've been looking for a couple of years now and the lack of available information can get discouraging sometimes. I can trace Confederate service to all 8 of my G-g-grandfathers, they served in units from Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, and Texas. I've been able to gather information on several flags they served under and have made some educated guesses about others, but this one (28th LA) has been rather elusive.
