Depending on which published date of the book that you have, the illustrator did not draw some of the flags correctly per Perble's description. So check Perble's description before taking the drawing as fact. Also the Rev War North Carolina flags are questionable.

Another good book is "A History of The United States" by William C. Doub (google books has a PDF)
